FAQ

The decision to employ a private tutor is not one to be made lightly and you no doubt have questions. Hopefully the section below will answer some of these:

What area do you cover for face-to face sessions?

We can provide face to face tuition to students situated withing an approximate 20 mile radius of our base in North Yorkshire. Broadly taking in the towns of Darlington, Richmond, Northallerton and Bedale. We travel to you and tuition takes place in the comfort of your own home.

How does online tuition work?

Online tuition has been introduced, primarily to reduce the number of students we have to turn away just because they live a little outside the area we can physically cover. We use the latest technology to provide a two way video link with an integrated whiteboard that allows us to teach effectively over a standard broadband connection. If you would be interested please contact us and we will forward more details of the equipment and software required.

How do you take payment?

For face-to-face students payment is required at the start of each session. This can be by cash, cheque or paypal.
For Online students all payments are collected in advance by Paypal and must be made not later than 3 hours before the session is due to start.

How long is a course of tuition?

This depends on what you are hoping to acheive and how close to that goal you already are. Its often suprising how quickly skills can be developed but you have to accept that if there is substantial work to do then it is going to take time. Every student is different and the best advice we can give is to get in touch and we can discuss your individual circumsances.

Do you always have tuition slots available?

Tuition slots can become free at time but most occur as students leave following the summer exams making this an ideal time to get in touch if you are thinking of tuition. Often by the spring term we are pretty fully booked again. Evening slots are most popular and can fill up quickly, especially in the run up to exams but it is always worth checking as depending on other commitments and geography we may be able to squeeze you in.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No - you will be invited to sign a document agreeing to the terms and conditions under which tuition is provided however you will ne be required to contract to a fixed length term or number of sessions and either party can discontinue tuition at any time without penalty.

Still unsure if tuition is right for you? Remember we never charge for advice and are more than happy to discuss your individual requirements at any time so get in touch today.
